Unicharm Corporation Group subsidiary, Peparlet Co., Ltd., a producer of pet care products, has constructed a new plant in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The inauguration ceremony was held on Oct. 17, 2023.

As part of its efforts to strengthen the supply capacity in the pet care category, Unicharm has completed the construction of a new factory for its subsidiary, Peparlet. Peparlet is the pioneering company that first developed “paper litter” for cat litter, and it was established in 1975. Since 2012, it has been operating as a part of the Unicharm Group.

Peparlet contributes to the realization of a circular society by utilizing waste materials such as discarded diapers and sanitary products from the manufacturing processes of various Unicharm Group companies as part of the raw materials for producing paper litter. By consolidating production bases that were previously dispersed in some areas, the new factory is expected to improve production capacity and logistics efficiency.
